Since its establishment in 1958, la Manufacture de tapis de Bourgogne, a company renowned for its exceptional textile craftsmanship, has continuously pushed the boundaries of innovation in the realm of high-end custom carpets. The brand’s journey began with an ambitious venture into the world of hand-woven carpets, a pursuit that led them to establish their roots in the picturesque village of Moroges, nestled in the heart of Burgundy, France.
In the 1970s they introduced a new, ground-breaking technique that would put them on the map – hand-tufted carpets. This revolutionary process opened doors for designers and architects to collaborate with the company, attracting creative names such as Andree Putman, Jean-Michel Wilmotte, Pierre Paulin, Phillipe Starck, and Peter Marino. These visionaries embarked on journeys to Moroges, fueling their projects with the company’s bespoke carpets.
Still today, the workshop works closely with designers around the world to create customized, handmade rugs. Masterpieces by icons like Sonia & Robert Delaunay, Victor Vasarely, Zao Wou-Ki, and Keith Haring have sprung to life within their workshops, each woven with an exquisite blend of skill and imagination. What truly sets the company apart is its steadfast dedication to crafting carpets solely by hand.
